Can I visit my child?

Each summer there are a number of FH teams that go and visit our fields. This past year over 90 teams with approximately 450 sponsors went to visit Food for the Hungry communities. When these sponsors return we love to get their stories and photos so that we can share their experiences with other sponsors. Here is one such story:

Marvin and his sponsored child's family

Child sponsorship through FH has had a greater impact on me than I could ever have on my sponsored child. After years of child sponsorship through other organizations this is the first time I’ve actually seen the impact firsthand.

I’ve seen real transformation in my child’s community in Bolivia because of the FH approach to sponsorship. I suppose I always just saw child sponsorship as a way to make sure my particular child was provided with food, clothing and other resources.

What I’ve seen in Bolivia is that Food for the Hungry’s work through child sponsorship really focuses on the entire community. The families, the churches and community leaders. FH uses the program to teach families the value of their children in God’s eyes. Churches are equipped to equip parents to fulfill God’s plan for their families.

I have been surprised at the leverage my monthly gift has in the hands of FH. I’ve experienced real personal transformation as I’ve seen God’s work in my sponsored child and the community at large. I have an even greater understanding of the bigness of God and His work in the world.”
